We would not be where we are today, a club with President’s Distinguished Club status 5 times in the past, without their commitment to change, to change for the better. Thank you, Past Presidents!
It was only fitting that we have Thomas Chen, Table Topics Champion for Area W7 Contest, to be the host for this historic presidential evening.
Our Toastmaster of the Evening Thomas Chen
In his invocation speech, KC Lim gave us this inspiring quote by Mahatma Gandhi - Be the change you want to see in the world.
Zaiton, our Table Topics Master, came up with interesting titles consisting of 3 words such as
You - Change - People
Static - Change – Movement
Thoughts – Change – World
Control – Change – Release
Opportunity – Change - Threat
Not surprisingly, two Past Presidents were joint Best Table Topics Speakers. True to the Word of the Day - EVOLVE - their performances proved that they have evolved into excellent speakers!
Best Joint Table Topics Speaker Kat Mah
For project speeches, we had 4 speakers who spoke on 4 different educational topics.
Chor Chee Hoe presented “The Hot Topic”. He spoke about an environmental issue close to his heart - how to reduce the effects of global warming.
Kent Ho in “Discovering Black Gold” told us of how the death of his beloved pet fish back in 1997 lead to his discovery of the benefits of composting and gardening.
Roslyn Tan with “When You Think You Know Someone”, told us of different leadership styles such as impoverished leadership and country club leadership.
For his Storytelling “Bringing History to Life” project speech, Freddie presented a heart-rending story of a father who lost his son during China’s historic day of “Oct 15 1905”.
In completing this project speech, Freddie has completed the 10 speeches required for his Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB) award. Congratulations, Freddie!

Past President Freddie Yap is Best Project Speaker
Our General Evaluator, Meyyappa Manickam, DTM, from Deloitte Kassim Chan Toastmasters Club, displayed his formidable evaluation skills. One of the youngest DTM in District 51, he is also the Best Evaluator for our “Be The Change” meeting. Coincidentally, he was the evaluator for our Best Project Speaker, Freddie Yap.
We are hoping 10 years will not pass by before our next Past Presidents’ Night. Thank you to Freddie and James, for gathering all 10 past presidents under one roof, for one night. It was a memorable evening and thank you, Past Presidents, for taking time off from your busy schedules to be with us.
