5 January 2016 - Commitment to Excellence

Friendship Toastmasters Club started the year 2016 by ushering two very important elements in our life; Excellence and Commitment.

"Desire is the key to motivation, but it's determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek"  Mario Andretti

If you take a look at some of the world’s greatest athletes, most successful entrepreneurs, or anyone who has mastered their craft, you will find that they made a firm commitment to daily excellence. Committing to excellence is what shaped some of the most successful companies like Microsoft and Apple. Committing to excellence is what turns an average athlete into a great athlete. Committing to excellence is what spurs an ordinary person to creating extraordinary success for them.

The evening was gracefully kicked off by our first timer, TME : Esten Tan, CC.

As this is a new 2016 year, FTMC decided to conduct the Induction Ceremony by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a Chinese traditional customary to symbolize a new beginning.

What distinguishes FTMC is the personal touch in everything we do.
We have mentors personally handing over the manuals to their mentees.
Mentors will provide continuous support and coaching to guide them along the way.
Alex mentoring Stanley Lo
Lai Leng mentoring Malynda Tan

Table topic master, Sylvia Tan, ACB, CL challenged the members on topics around the theme for the evening.

Lim Terng Fui - What will be your 2016 New Year resolutions if you are the Prime Minister?
Malynda Tan - What is the most beautiful moment in 2015 in your life?

Our first project speaker, Malynda Tan delivered CC#1- The Ice Breaker

Title : Know me, Know you

Malynda Tan, a Penang born gal is currently attached in a legal firm as a chambering student. She believes in contributing back to the society and to embrace the value of honesty, dedication and dignity.

Our second  project speaker, Stanley Lo delivered CC#1- The Ice Breaker
Title : The time of my life

We are so fortunate to have Stanley Lo "opened up" himself, allowing us to know more about him... He shared stories of how his mother blanket him and provided security to him.

Well done to both Ice-breaking speakers!!! Looking forward to your next speech!

Our third project speaker, Keny Tai delivered CC#5- Your Body Speaks
Title : How to make people like you immediately

Who doesn't fancy an instant like? Who doesn't want to be likeable? Who doesn't want to be the rose among the thorns? Like it or not, most of the people make judgment based on their first impression on YOU.

Keny shared 4 tips to improve your likeability:
1. Take interest in the people you are talking to (genuine interest)
2. Say positive things
3. Body language
4. Smile!!! (It is highly contagious!)

Smile .... and the world smiles with you!

Our final project speaker is our President Benz Chan, CC delivering ACB Speaking to Inform Assignment #3 : The Demonstration Talk
Title : POCT Technique

Stanley Lo was volunteered by the crowd to be the "doctor" to draw Benz's blood. It's real, it's blood!
