Dear Friends

Once again, we shall meet for an evening of entertaining, learning and fellowship next week. Please clear your schedule for Oct 6 because we will be witnessing award-winning performances from the following Toastmasters:

Toastmaster of the Evening
James Arokiasamy - Past President of Friendship, as well as an eloquent & entertaining speaker.

Invocation
Sivadas - will relinquish his Timer role for this evening and take on the challenging role of Invocation speaker.

Table Topics Master
Grace Tan - the undeniable, indisputable & irrefutable winner of Friendship Toastmasters Club "Toastmaster of the Year" award.

Project Speakers
Sit back and enjoy amazing speeches & presentations from Edna, Rosalyn and President Ben.

Humour Master
Khairul Hassan - this first-time humour performance by Khairul is Not to be missed.

General Evaluator
Fong Ming, DTM - Past District Governor - has many accolades and rave reviews as a first-class speaker. Do witness for yourself a world-class performance from a Distinguished Toastmaster.

Evaluators
Thomas Chen, Kim Chow, Koh Teck Lee & Mok Soo Pon - an experienced team of evaluators, eager to help all of us improve our Toastmastering skills.

Grammarian
Priyanka Puri - first-ever Grammarian role for Priyanka. No challenge is too big for this new member.

Ah Counter
Zaiton - expect an elegant & illuminating report on the number of ahs, umms that are used during the meeting.

Ladies & gentlemen, with such an impressive line-up, it would be a shame if you are not at Bukit Kiara on Oct 6. Do come and join in the fun. The only vacanct slots left are for Table Topics speakers which everyone should try out.

Do not say that you will try to do your BEST
Just do your BEST whenever you try !

Appreciation Speech from Immediate Past President

Tan Lay Theng, Immediate Past President and elected as an Area Governor for the term 2009-2010.

She presented this speech in appreciation of her executive committee for the term 2008-2009.


Ladies and gentlemen

For the year 2008/2009, we were able to achieve the President’s Distinguished Club award because of the contributions from all the members. In particular, the efforts of the Exco members are critical. It is my honour to have the opportunity to be part of the team, and I would like to recognize their contributions to the club:

VPE – Ben Fong. He is the perfect partner in the business of running a Toastmasters Club.


VPM – Tony Lim. He brings in not just new members but also companies.


VPPR – Freddie Yap. He is the role model in promoting FTMC.


Treasurer – Zaiton Zainal Abidin. She effectively manages the financial health of the club.

SAA – Liaw Jye Wey. He ensures that FTMC always has a conducive learning environment.

There is also another eagle in FTMC that I must mention this evening.

This person has contributed significantly to the club spirit and success. She has constantly demonstrating the following:

1. Enthusiasm – reflects enthusiasm for fellow members, club and Toastmasters.

2. Dedication – readily and enthusiastically accepts all the assignments and willingly contributes to the club’s well being.

3. Helping Others – coaches, mentors and provides feedback and support to club members. She evaluates with the purpose of recognizing achievement, fostering continued improvement and helping members build self-esteem.

All of us have benefitted from her contributions. I have definitely learned from her.

Besides FTMC, she has been contributing to other clubs’ well being by playing meeting roles and helping others to succeed.

This member is an exceptional performer.

In fact, the Exco has submitted her name as the Toastmasters of the Year (TOY) from our club to Area W6 last year.

Khairul Bariah is the Toastmaster of the Meeting. This charming lady performs her maiden role with flair and dignity. Her assets are her strong command of English and good diction. Bravo!



Jessica Liew, DTM, is the General Evaluator. This bubbly lady is a Business Consultant and a member of MAICSA Toastmasters Club. She has served as an Area Governor of District 51.

NJ Singam is an eloquent evaluator. This distinguished gentleman is a member of four Toastmasters Club. His home club is WIM Toastmasters Club. He is also a member of a Malay Toastmasters Club as well as a member of two Tamil Toastmasters Clubs.

Singam has served as an Area Governor of District 51. Currently, he is an Assistant Division Governor of Division W, District 51.


Elaine Tan gives her maiden speech in Toastmasters - the Ice Breaker. This demure lady speaks about "Life of a Workaholic" with strong confidence and remarkable expression. She receives a standing ovation.


Gino Chong delivers a speech based on the second speech project - Organize Your Speech. This high-spirited gentleman speaks on "Have Heart But No Energy", and gives an animated and dynamic presentation.


Scott McDonough is from Australia and a new member of the club. His speech is based on the second speech project - Organize Your Speech. This muscular and macho gentleman gives a powerful and professional presentaion on "The War Within - The Power of Anti-oxidants" with the help of PowerPoint slides.



Angeline Lee gives a speech based on the Advanced Manual "The Entertaining Speaker", Project One "The Entertaining Speech". This angelic lady crafted an entertaining title for her entertaining speech: "My Mechanic, The King". Her comical episodes thrill the audience from start to finish.

Tan Lay Theng, Immediate Past President and an Area Governor of District 51, wins the "Best Table Topics Speaker" award and receives a certificate from President Ben Fong.

Grace Tan, club mentor and Toastmaster of the Year, wins the "Best Speech Evaluator" award. When President Ben Fong presents the certificate to her, he persuades her to participate in the Evaluation Speech Contest.


Sivadass, the Sergeant-at-Arms, is also fondly known as Mr Rolex. He is the diligent timer not only at club meetings but also at area and division speech contests.

Grace Tan is the Toastmaster of the Year of Friendship Toastmasters Club for the term 2008-2009.

Grace Tan - gorgeous, delicious and vivacious. A lady with many achievements under her belt. She's a lawyer cum senior partner of a successful law firm. Besides manoeuvring around the courts, she also navigates her way on stage as an emcee and humorous speaker.

She has coached and mentored many new members. A lady with a deep passion for Toastmasters, an untiring love for teaching others, and a tower of strength to the club.

Greetings from Friendship Kingdom !

Our President Ben is back from his underwater adventure & exploration trip and shall be with us tomorrow.

We have a brand new Toastmaster, lovely Elaine Tan, who will be presenting her Ice-breaker speech. We also have Toastmaster Scott who will be doing his second speech and will enlightened us on the mysterious properties of anti-oxidants.
