Subject: FTMC 2 Nov - Leadership is action, not position

All amiable Friendship Club Members,

Leadership is action, not position. This great quote comes from Donald H. McGannon, who served as President of the National Urban League. I totally agree with the quote. As an excellent leader, you can’t just talk about it; you have to do it. When people see you accomplishing something worthwhile, they will follow.

You cannot declare yourself as “leader”; you have to earn it. No position will make you a leader; you have to have followers.

In the upcoming meeting, we have a number of great leaders who will amaze us with their influence of leadership. Our dedicated President, Zaiton Zainal Abidin, CC is going to show us her true power by attempting the Leadership Excellence Series. Past President KC Lim, ACG, CL will be entertaining us with his humorous spirit. Our Immediate Past President, Ben Fong, CC, CL will compete with KC to show us his humorous side by doing his project in the Humorously Speaking Manual. Other responsible EXCO leaders, Alexandra, Wai Yee and Vincent Wong will show us their action, not position by doing invocation and project speeches.

What's more exciting? Well, we are holding the new member induction ceremony for the two great leaders-to-be! Our newest members, Susan Lim and Ian Tai are going to be inducted and they have decided to play the Ah-Counter and Grammarian roles respectively for the very first time. Our new member, Emily Kok, will be performing her maiden role as Table Topics Master. Do attend the meeting and support them!

People follow people, not positions. They respect people whom they trust. They tag along with people in whom they believe. They follow people who have demonstrated they deserve to be followed. That requires action, which doesn’t require any certain “position”. You have to take action that inspires people to follow you.
Attending the FTMC meeting on 2 Nov is the gateway to leadership by action, not position! Don't forget to bring as many guests as possible, as every guest provides you the greater oppurtunity to be the champion of the Membership Building Contest!

Your TME,
Chor Chee Hoe
