An evening full of Fun, Laughter and Entertainment!
Friendship
Toastmasters Club started the new term 2012-13 With A BANG! In conjunction with
the Installation Ceremony, the club planned to do something different – To
celebrate in style and glame,
A MASQUERADE PARTY!
The party
was brilliantly hosted by “Phantom” of the evening, Timothy Nakayama and the
ever-lovely and sweet, Daphne Au.

To get everyone into the party
mood; game host, Sylvia
Tan got everyone worked out in the Ice-Breaking game. All participants are
divided into groups. Similar to treasure hunts, participants were required to
search for hidden questions in the venue and answer the questions within a
given time.

After the
Ice-Breaking Game was the highlight of the evening, Friendship Club Installation Ceremony conducted by Division W Governor,
Tan Lay Theng. With great honour, the former executive team passed the baton to
the new executive team, led by Alexandra Lau as Club President for the new term
2012-2013.

After the
installation ceremony, we started off with a blast with our “Amazing” Grace
Tan, lifting our spirits by leading us in singing our club anthem, “Eagle”.
The sound
of music continues with two more acoustic performances by club member, Lien
Chai, charming us with his acoustic performance and his dashing voice singing
“Matahari”. This was followed by our own Club Choir with the song “I Won’t Give Up”,
accompanied by guitar played David Lai from Puchong Mandarin Toastmasters.

To add in the “mysterious” effect, we witnessed an eye opening magic show from Patrick Lim imported from DU Advance Toastmasters Club. We are extremely fortunate to be able to invite him as our guest performancer.

Game Host, Sylvia
Tan hit the stage again by giving all of us another workout session on building
towers made of balloons. Ian Tai took control
on the “Talk & Mime” session which was hilariously done by all 6
participants Sharifah, Tan Tyng Yng (from IBM Toastmasters), Penny Choo (from
MidValley Toastmasters), Oh Lien Chai, Timothy and David Lai. Well done, guys!

The much
awaited Luck Draw was led by Area W3 Governor and Club Secretary, Chor Chee
Hoe. The lucky draw gifts were sponsored by Past President Ben Fong, Past
President KC Lim and Sylvia Tan. The winners are Immediate Past President (IPP) Angeline Lee
and Penny Choo. The Grand Prize was won by Shane Lim
from AFC Toastmasters Club.

The evening
could not possibly end without a catwalk, Masquerade style. Our flamboyant
participants are Moses Wong with his yellow wig, Timothy (Phantom) Nakayama, Saied
(AFC Toastmasters), Cleopatra Grace Tan, Past President Zaiton with her rooster
mask and YS Lee (AFC Toastmaster), the sexiest belly dancer of the night. All
had shown us how to do the “serious” catwalk in 30 seconds.

After the
closing address by President Alexandra, we had a birthday cake surprise for VPE
Daphne Au. There were no candles on the cake as this is another mystery!
The
Masquerade Night was indeed a night to remember. To all guests, Friendship members,
participants from AFC Toastmasters, Midvalley Toastmasters, Crystal Toastmasters
and IBM Toastmasters, and not forgetting lucky draw sponsors Ben Fong, KC Lim
and Sylvia Tan; the evening would not have been successful without your active
participation and support.
